YouTube Time Sections
Over the last year or so I've been building up my YouTube channel, learning new things and experimenting trying to figure out the best way to do things that are useful to my audience. A new feature that YouTube have launched this year is the time sections which is a great feature for longer videos, I kind of stumbled across it by accident and wanted to share some info on it as I'm finding it really useful. 😀
You might have spotted that on some videos within YouTube have these kind of broken up play lines that show sections, and allow you to skip to different sections.
Well this is something the creator of the video has total control over and can set up for the viewers!
Within the description of your video, you need to include some time stamps along with a description of what that section is about. What you need to remember is to include 0:00 as the first time stamp entry otherwise YouTube won't know to start setting up the time sections.
So something along the lines of:
0:00 - Introduction
0:20 - What does an IT department look like?
4:08 - Terminology: On Prem and Cloud
9:50 - My career
16:16 - My role as a Cloud Advocate
17:44 - Working at Microsoft
20:50 - Do you need a degree?
It's a simple thing that could make a big difference to your audience, especially on those larger videos which have natural sections within them.
Give it a go and let me know what you think! 😀
